Getting a New Website

A professional website should be user-friendly and visually appealing. At Pretty Pages, we take the time to collaborate with our clients to bring their web design visions to life. When developing your new website design, we make the process convenient for you by letting you choose to communicate via the phone, e-mail, or face-to-face.

To get started on your new website project, you should make yourself familiar with the process.

The Process

Plan, Plan, Plan!

  1. Pick your domain name! Your domain name is how people will find you on the web. Example: www.pretty-pages.com. You will need to make sure that a domain name is available before you use it.

  3. The first step in creating a new website design is to identify the goals and objectives of the website. For example:

    • Who is your target audience?
    • Do you need any special features on your website? (Ex. blog, photo galleries, live chat, etc...)
    • Do you need to accept payments?


  4. The second step is to create a storyboard flowchart. This simply means that we will develop an outline of your website. An outline will help determine exactly how many pages your website will need.

    Here is an example of an outline for a 6 page website:

    • Home
    • Services
      • Service 1
      • Service 2
    • Pricing
    • Contact Us

  5. Gather your content! In this part of the planning phase you will gather all of the elements that you want to be included in your website. This includes writing content that you want included, taking photos, and creating graphics.
  6. Grant Pretty Pages access. We will need your username and password for your web hosting service.

    Design Time!

  7. A mock website is created. Based on previous discussions we will create a a mock website for you to preview. This is the basic template for your site without the content.
  8. Feedback time! After reviewing the mock website, you inform us any changes you want made. After making the changes, there will be one more round of iteration for any necessary changes.
  9. Time to create the website. Once the mock website is acceptable, it is time to implement the real site. In this part of the design process, all of the graphics, pictures, and content is added.
  10. Finalize. After all of the content has been added, we go over the website again to make sure that everything is complete.
  11. Launch the site! After the website is fully functional and complete, we upload it and submit it to the search engines so that users on the internet can find your company.
